Collab Fertility is a private, physician-owned fertility clinic and surgery center in Walnut Creek, California. Founded by reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Thalia R. Segal, Collab takes an integrative approach to fertility care, combining advanced reproductive medicine with nutrition, lifestyle guidance, education, and whole-person support.

Duties
  • Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all sterile supplies, equipment, and
    instruments are ready for scheduled surgeries.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, medical
    history review, and physiological evaluations to determine readiness for
    surgery.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by providing sterile instrument handling,
    suturing, and managing intraoperative needs such as airway management
    and ventilator support.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs continuously throughout surgery, responding
    promptly to any signs of acute pain or distress with appropriate
    interventions.
  • Maintain strict infection control protocols including aseptic technique and
    proper specimen collection/processing to prevent contamination.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately in electronic health record
    (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA
    regulations.
  • Support post-operative recovery by assessing patients’ condition, managing
    pain with advanced techniques such as opioid and non-opioid medications,
    and coordinating discharge planning.
  • Update policies and procedures regularly in preparation for outside
    accreditation.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in perioperative nursing within hospital or ambulatory surgery center settings with OR experience essential.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation relevant to surgical procedures across specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology, trauma medicine, and pediatrics.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
  • Skilled in IV infusion, venipuncture, catheter care including Foley and other urinary catheters, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with anesthesia documentation is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments like Level I Trauma Centers or critical care units such as ICU or PICU.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique essential for maintaining a sterile environment during surgeries.

Skills
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate
    communication tailored for diverse populations including pediatrics,
    geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
